Walbert Castillo
Associate Creative Director, Amazon
Walbert Castillo is a creative leader, innovative storyteller, and first-generation Filipino American with 6+ years of professional experience. Based in Las Vegas, Walbert works at Amazon as an Associate Creative Director where he produces documentaries across the world for Brand Marketing and is on the Filipinos@Amazon Leadership team. His most recent project took him to Zanzibar and London where he produced a docu-series for Amazon Prime Video called “Climate Next.” Prior to Amazon, Walbert was based in DC worked at USA TODAY as a multimedia journalist for five years and founded the first Asian American Employee Resource Group (ERG) catering to the network’s 250 local news organizations. Aligned with his passion for the Filipino and AAPI community, Walbert was the former Vice President of Communications at the Filipino Young Professionals of DC, former NaFFAA DC Chairman, and worked at DC’s Purple Patch. Previous internships include: The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI) and CNN. Walbert graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016 where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism.
