On Saturday, May 18, 2019, NaFFAA National and Capital Region participated in the 2nd Annual Pinoy Graduation Showcase DC (P-Grad), hosted by the Philippine American Foundation for Charities, Inc, Philippine Embassy, and the Filipino Cultural Association at the University of Maryland, College Park.

In its second year, P-Grad DC aims to recognize graduating FIlipino Americans in the Capital Region and connect them to the greater Filipino American community, its organizations, and resources. This year, the graduation opened its applicant pool to include middle schoolers and anyone graduating from a program, such as a certificate program or armed services training. P-Grad celebrates the importance of education and the importance of the community in supporting the development and empowerment of rising Filipino American youth leaders.

NaFFAA served as a Kapitbahay (Neighbor) sponsor for the event, shared information around the National Empowerment Conference and Fil-Am Vote Program during the event’s pre- and post-ceremony community fair. Justine Suegay, NaFFAA Program Associate, and April Siruno, NaFFAA Chief of Staff, served as roll-call speakers during the presentation of graduates. Krystle Canare, NaFFAA Region Chair, served as overall program chair for the event.
