NaFFAA Responds to FCC’s Wireless Infrastructure Streamlining Order
Washington, DC – In response to the FCC’s Wireless Infrastructure Streamlining Order proposal, NaFFAA National Chairman Brendan Flores issued the following statement:
“The lives of people across the country and around the world are brought together and enhanced by the Internet. Today, the world watches as diverse communities and marginalized voices in America are finding a voice, advocating for their rights, and growing inclusive communities online, where many of today’s political and civil rights movements are rooted.
“Continued momentum is dependent upon widespread access to a strong and affordable Internet. The development of next generation 5G wireless broadband will be the catalyst for civic participation and expanded rights for all. That is why NaFFAA supports federal efforts to improve procedures for 5G deployment.
“We support FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr’s proposal—the Wireless Infrastructure Streamlining Order—to simplify the permitting process and reduce the cost of building 5G infrastructure to better reflect the minimal burden of ‘small cell’ wireless facilities. We look forward to witnessing the impact of Carr’s proposal and will continue advancing our organization’s mission through the power of the Internet.”
