This year, NaFFAA\u2019s unwavering dedication to uplifting Filipino Americans led to significant milestones, collaborative achievements, and a strengthened community poised for a brighter future.<\/span><\/p><h3><b>Reflecting on 2024 Milestones<\/b><\/h3><p><b>January: A Historic Leadership Summit in Manila<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NaFFAA held its annual Leadership Summit in the Philippines at the historic Manila Hotel, bringing together over 30 regional and state leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue, reconnect with Filipino heritage, and build impactful strategies for the future. Among the featured speakers were five former NaFFAA youth leaders now residing in the Philippines, who shared their journeys of &#8216;realizing the American dream with a Filipino heart.&#8217; Leaders met with esteemed officials, including then-Senate President Jose Miguel Zubiri, as National President Mariela Fletcher reflected, &#8216;This summit strengthens the bond between our communities and reinforces our shared commitment to progress.&#8217;\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout the conference, NaFFAA leaders collaborated with other government leaders such as Mayor Maria Sheila &#8216;Honey&#8217; Lacuna of Manila and Mayor Abigail &#8216;Nancy&#8217; Binay of Makati. NaFFAA spearheaded the Tulong Sulong initiative to support disaster-stricken communities in the Philippines.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaboration with other national organizations, guided by the leadership of Loida Lewis and Brendan Flores, played a pivotal role in amplifying NaFFAA\u2019s efforts during FAHM. This partnership elevated initiatives celebrating Filipino American history and contributions, further uniting the community under a shared vision.<\/span><\/p><p><b>November: Historic Achievements and Gratitude<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NaFFAA celebrated the election of over 25 Filipino Americans to various government positions during the 2024 elections, a testament to the community\u2019s growing influence. Additionally, the organization congratulated one of NaFFAA\u2019s founding members, Loida Lewis, on her historic nomination to the Millennium Challenge Corporation by President Joe Biden. Thanksgiving reflections highlighted the community\u2019s resilience and generosity.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">November also brought significant reasons to be thankful. NaFFAA extended its gratitude to Congresswoman Grace Meng, Assemblyman Steven Raga, and NaFFAA NY leaders, led by State President Rachelle Peraz-Ocampo, along with the entire Filipino American community, for securing $1.6 million in funding to support the community. This achievement represents a victory not only for NaFFAA NY and Queens but for Filipino Americans across the nation. This funding creates powerful leverage toward establishing a lasting space that embodies the history and heritage of Filipino Americans.
