From powerful commemorations to inspiring community gatherings, this year\u2019s FAHM was a vivid reminder of our shared history and the incredible diversity within our communities.<\/span><\/p><h3><b>Honoring Frontliners and Celebrating Recognition at the White House<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a historic moment, the White House recognized Filipino American frontliners for their significant contributions. NaFFAA Trustee Janelle So-Perkins, who was present, shared, \u201cTo be acknowledged at the White House validates the sacrifices and resilience of our community, especially those who served courageously on the frontlines.\u201d This powerful event underscores the growing recognition of Filipino Americans on a national stage, symbolizing our heritage\u2019s pride and impact.<\/span><\/p><h3><b><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/angatpangasinan.com\/alps\/wp-content\/uploads\/HealthcareProfs.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1022\" \/><\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NaFFAA National Chair Brendan Flores reflected on this recognition, saying, \u201cThe White House honoring our community reflects the long-overdue recognition of Filipino Americans&#8217; contributions. This milestone is a testament to our community\u2019s dedication, and we are deeply proud.\u201d<\/span><\/p><h3><b>Celebrations Across NaFFAA Regions<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each NaFFAA region added its unique voice to the month-long celebration, highlighting the cultural richness and historical significance of Filipino American heritage:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Northeast<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hosted a vibrant \u201cHalo-Halloween\u201d Town Hall and Resource Fair in Elmhurst, Queens, New York. The event showcased community resources, Filipino talent, and entrepreneurship, celebrating the diversity and unity within the region. Local Filipino American organizations joined together, creating a space for connection and growth. <b><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/angatpangasinan.com\/alps\/wp-content\/uploads\/Northeast-1024x709.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"709\" \/><\/b><\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Rocky Mountain<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> witnessed a breathtaking display as Denver City Hall lit up in the colors of the Philippine flag, symbolizing solidarity and pride. NaFFAA Region V also held a successful FAHM celebration, where community members gathered to honor Filipino heritage. The event underscored the region\u2019s commitment to advocacy and cultural preservation.<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/angatpangasinan.com\/alps\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mountain-1024x639.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"639\" \/><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Greater Los Angeles\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> held an impactful FAHM celebration in Los Angeles, gathering community leaders, artists, and advocates to commemorate Filipino heritage. This annual celebration brought together diverse members of the Filipino American community, honoring their contributions and fostering a sense of belonging.<\/span><\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Midwest<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> saw Skokie, Illinois, officially recognize FAHM, with a proclamation signed by Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen. Region XII organized an event focusing on combatting anti-Asian hate and led cultural activities, such as Parol-making, to engage and educate both Filipino and non-Filipino community members. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/angatpangasinan.com\/alps\/wp-content\/uploads\/PacificNorthwest-1024x764.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"764\" \/><\/span><\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <\/span><b>Desert Mountain Region,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Nevada Chapter of NaFFAA organized a symposium that highlighted contemporary issues affecting the Filipino American community, offering a platform for vital conversations and shared learning.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/angatpangasinan.com\/alps\/wp-content\/uploads\/FAHM-Nevada-1024x579.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"579\" \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><h3><b>Leadership Reflections<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reflecting on FAHM 2024, NaFFAA National President Mariela Fletcher remarked, \u201cThis month has reminded us of the strength and unity in our community. Each event and gathering illuminated our shared values and our determination to empower future generations.
