NaFFAA Supports Bill to Increase the Amount of Survivors\u2019 and Dependents\u2019 Educational Assistance Provided to an Eligible Individual Pursuing a Program of Education at an Institution in the Philippines<\/b><\/h3>

Washington, DC \u2014 The National Federation of Filipino American Associations fully supports H.R.1635, filed by Rep. Jen Kiggans (VA) and Rep. Mike Levin (CA), which aims to increase the amount of survivors’ and dependents’ educational assistance provided to an eligible individual pursuing a program of education at an institution in the Republic of the Philippines.<\/p>

NaFFAA Virginia State Chair Angelo Reyes commented, \u201cI am confident that this bill will greatly help all Filipino Veterans, especially in our district, as many Filipino veterans reside in Virginia. This bill would allow veterans attending an institution located in the Philippines to receive equivalent GI bill benefits provided for attendance at other institutions covered by Section 3532.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cI am glad our dear \u2018manongs\u2019 sacrifices of putting their lives on the line for the United States during World War 2\u00a0 are being recognized and rewarded. After years of waiting for the benefits they deserve, I hope our veteran heroes will start to fully receive the compensation they really need – a payment that will surely bless, not just them, but even generations after them,\u201d NaFFAA National Chair Brendan Flores added.<\/p>
